First Results of Referendum: Yes Option Is In the Lead
This is the sixth consecutive time that the government of Rafael Correa has emerged victorious at the polls in Ecuador.
According to information from Tracking Poll -hired by Ecuavisa TV Network and developed by Cedatos- the ‘Yes’ was imposed in the last referendum with 57% of the valid votes, against the 43% obtained by the option ‘No’. Meanwhile, the record of ‘White’ votes was 9.3% of the electoral roll, while the ‘Null’ were 7.3% of the total voting power.
Cedatos states that the option YES gained more acceptance in the urban areas of the country which it won with 57.3%, while the ‘No’ had 42.7%, while in rural areas, it won with 56.5% against 43.5% of ‘no’.
In terms of regions, if generally flattened, the coast showed the greatest acceptance with 60.2% of the votes for the “yes” option and 39.2% for the “no;” as in the highlands “yes won with 53.5% and “no” was 46.5%. In the Amazon region “yes” got 54.3% (45.7% “no”.)
In the final count among the 10 questions, the results were:
- Question 1: ‘yes’ 59.9% – ‘no’ 40.1%
- Question 2: ‘yes’ 57.7% – ‘no’ 42.3%
- Question 3: ‘yes’ 55.3% – ‘no’ 44.7%
- Question 4: ‘yes’ 56.7% – ‘no’ 43.3%
- Question 5: ‘yes’ 56.5% – ‘no’ 43.5%
- Question 6: ‘yes’ 57.4% – ‘no’ 42.6%
- Question 7: ‘yes’ 53.8% – ‘no’ 46.2%
- Question 8: ‘yes’ 57.7% – ‘no’ 42.3%
- Question 9: ‘yes’ 55.5% – ‘no’ 44.5%
- Question 10: ‘yes’ 59.8% – ‘no’ 40.2%
Total ‘yes’ 57% – ‘no’ 43%
