Alvaro Noboa, “We Must Seek Consensus, Agreements”
In media broadcast, Alvaro Noboa presented his point of view on today’s Election Day held in Ecuador.
In the TV special called “Consulta Popular 2011 Decisión Popular” by Sonorama Radio, Armónica Radio and TV Channel 1, Noboa said “it will be very uncomfortable for Rafael Correa to manage a country where half the people are in favor and half against it” because this would cause an uncomfortable political imbalance that would prevent govern the country.
Noboa said the referendum was, in fact, a defeat despite the overwhelming of the government expenses and that not even has been “a response to the questions, as it has been a reaction to him (…) to his wrong governing state and style.”
With this referendum, the President “collects all the power and turns it into a political tool to put aside their potential opponents,” he said. “He must seek consensus, agreements” if he truly wants to govern a country, he added.
Referring to the illegal enrichment topic, that pretends to penalize wealthy people, Noboa said the first accused would be many government people who overnight, “live in Samborondón and that previously had not a penny.”
“In my case, everyone knows the fortune that my father did, everyone knows my work, (…) the thing that I have done in my lifetime.”
