Former assistant of Gabriela Rivadeneira, arrested for alleged corruption, is released
Ecuadornews:

Judge Geovanna Palacios did not accept on Thursday the request of Prosecutor Claudia Romero, who requested a 90-day preventive detention for the manager of the Legislative House in Pichincha David Yépez Yánez, the administrative director of the Ministry of the Interior Boris Platonoff Serrano, and Byron Zúñiga, of the same ministry, whom the Prosecutor’s Office accused of alleged concussion, and who were arrested on Wednesday night. After an 8-hour hearing, the judge ordered that the defendants appear every 15 days and to bear a tracking device.
The three public officials and the wife of one of them are investigated by the Office of the Prosecutor for allegedly benefiting, through a system of commissions, from state contracts.
David Yépez Yánez was an assistant to legislator Gabriela Rivadeneira when she was president of the Legislature. Now, he is the manager of the House of the Assembly in Pichincha. The other defendant is the Chilean citizen María Escobar Guzmán, wife of Platonoff.
The investigation of prosecutor Claudia Romero began after a contractor, who requested anonymity, claimed that some officials of that ministry charged commissions of 10%. The complainant delivered a telephone number from which he received the illegal proposals. (I)
