France denies asylum to Assange

France quickly rejected on Friday an asylum request for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has been a refugee for three years at the Embassy of Ecuador in London, to avoid extradition to Sweden for alleged sex crimes.

The creator of the Wikileaks website had appealed directly to President François Hollande days after he published documents showing that the United States spied on French leaders, including Hollande.
