Francis Pope rejects image of ‘star’
“They say I go out at night from the Vatican to feed the homeless, but that thought has never crossed my mind. Painting the Pope as a sort of superman, a kind of star, I find it offensive. The pope is a man who laughs, cries , sleeps quiet and has friends. A normal person,” said Pope Francisco on interviews with the Newspapers “Corriere della Sera” from Italy and “La Nación” from Argentina.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio also answers questions about the family, saying that “the concept of family is going through a very serious crisis,” since it is “difficult to form it, for young people are not getting married anymore and there are many separated families with their children who suffer a lot.”
Bergoglio also explains that it is conducting a “theological study on the role of women in the Church” and as proof he reveals that he is reading right now “Pietro e Maddalena” ( Peter and Magdalena), by priest Damiano Marzotto, on the feminine dimension of the Church.
Among other topics, the interview ends with the story that, besides having girlfriend at 17, when he entered the seminary, a girl “made me crazy” for a week. “Those were things of youth. I talked to my confessor,” said the Pope.
