French filmmaker Pierre Schoendoerffer Dies at 83

French filmmaker and Oscar winner for the documentary ‘La section Anderson‘ (1967), Pierre Schoendoerffer passed away today at the age of 83.
Writer and screenwriter, Schoendoerffer, who presided over since 2001 the Academy of Fine Arts of France, exercised during the Indochina War, which specialize him in war movies.
Among his films are titles like ‘Blood of Indochina,’ winner of the Palme for Best Screenplay at Cannes,’ Le Crabe-Tambour‘ or ‘The Devil’s Gorge.’ In 1991 he returned to Vietnam to film “Dien Bien Phu,’ which recreates the battle that he, lived in 1954 and reflects on the war.
