In a transmission, the official mentioned that despite all the restrictive measures that have been taken in Galapagos , today, March 23, and after receiving the results of the samples sent to the National Institute of Public Health Research (Inspi) Four positive cases of the disease have been confirmed.
“The three cases evolve favorably, another is in a more critical situation,” Wray explained, adding that the patients are isolated and all the measures in the case are being taken to strengthen the epidemiological circle in the two cities.
Regarding the contagion , Wray pointed out that there is no autochthonous case in the islands, but that three of the identified cases have had an entry from Guayaquil , for this reason, he emphasized, “we have to be more rigorous in establishing restrictive measures to enter the Galapagos. “
Faced with this situation, the President of the Governing Council asked that older adults , vulnerable people, people with disabilities or in risk groups stay at home to avoid further contagion on the islands.
From March 15, all nationals or foreigners who want to enter the Galapagos must remain for a period of 14 days in mandatory preventive isolation in continental Ecuador.
In the report issued the morning of this March 23, in Ecuador 981 people infected by covid-19 are registered and the number of deceased reaches 18.
Guayas is still the most affected by infections, with 769 positive cases. The provinces of Pichincha follow with 65 cases, Los Ríos with 28 cases, Azuay with 23, Manabí 27, Loja 5, Bolívar 9, Chimborazo 9, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas 7, Cañar 5, Morona Santiago 6, Imbabura 4, Sucumbíos 6, Esmeraldas 3, El Oro 9 and Santa Elena 4, Tungurahua 1, Cotopaxi 1. With these last two, they reach 18 of the 24 provinces of Ecuador, which have patients affected by the disease.
