Ecuadornews:
It will be a state “crusade.” President Lenin Moreno met yesterday with women’s organizations that promote the fight to eradicate gender-based and intra-family violence.
The meeting comes at a time when there have been several cases of femicide in the country. Only between January and June of this year, there were 74 cases: 14 in Guayas, 11 in Pichincha and seven in Manabí.
Moreno made yesterday the presentation of the “great national crusade against violence against women and the family,” and pledged to implement plans aimed at enforcing the rights of women.
One of the concerns is that 27% of women over 15 years of age do not have their income, in addition to the maternal mortality and the gender gap in education.
For this reason, one of the objectives of the government is to improve labor access, reduce wage gaps and support women in poverty through access to education and health systems. (I)
