General Secretariat of Communication rejects dissemination of false accusations in the social networks of former President Rafael Correa
The General Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency of the Republic rejects the infamy with which systematically the social network accounts of former President Rafael Correa impel a campaign to sow anxiety and anxiety in the country.
It is unfortunate that the former president of Ecuador through his twitter account spread rumors, lies and sick delusions about the situation of the Chief Executive. It is ironic that in his message on this social network former President Correa refers to corruption issues of the current government when it is public knowledge that there are officials of his regime prisoners and other fugitives from justice, and who rest in the justice about 320 investigation processes for alleged irregular management of public funds.
We also reject that digital portals immediately disseminate these false accusations, including the digital newspaper Ecuadorinmediato.com, which informs that according to former President Correa anticipates the departure of the office of President Lenin Moreno. The digital portal breaches journalistic processes by disseminating unverified, contrasted and contextualized information, according to constitutional norms.
ECUADORINMEDIATO complies with in form that our procedures in the publication of notes coming from Twitter are always verified in their authenticity of the author and the origin of a certified account that is of the case. For this reason, we assume the responsibility of publishing the data that is news but we are not responsible for the contents of these tweets, which are public and with responsibility of the person who issues them.
Likewise, we proceed to point out to the reference of the Communication Secretariat that censure our professional ethics is rejected by us since all information is supported in the publication of the original data and with the proper documents, so we do not consider that has violated any rule of professional journalistic rigor that governs us.
The issue in question is a criterion of former President Rafael Correa as a reaction to the previous inquiry that has been opened by the INA Investment case against the President of Ecuador Lenin Moreno, and is treated as such as a criterion or opinion within the framework of respect for the freedom of expression and publication that we apply with due respect for the authors of the criteria, whether this or the government, who are treated equally by us. That is the freedom of the press that we defend so much.
We also take the opportunity to denounce that the Presidency of the Republic has proceeded to promote actions against our digital medium by requesting that access to the server that keeps us be removed, which could affect our environment
For this reason, we have proceeded to publish this public complaint of the SECOM addressed with a statement in its version against ECUADORINMEDIATO, considering it as a right of reply, to which the National Government of Ecuador may turn when it deems appropriate. (I)
