Government and PAIS Ready to Work in Social Transformation
Both the Government and PAIS party are going through a difficult time for a possible boycott campaign of the opposition to the popular mandate, so they are preparing for a legal and technical implementation of obligations that come from the referendum held on 7 May.
After the spread of results by the Official Gazette, President Rafael Correa said that they must implement the changes and also warned the assembly members that they will be removed from their office if they fail to comply with people’s mandate.
Assemblyman Virgilio Hernandez said the main analysis will be the highland vote, where the query was not well received and where they will begin strengthening PAIS work nationwide. He added that strategies seek rapprochement with the indigenous sector, which must recognize that they are direct beneficiaries of the project.
As explained by the legal team of the President of the Republic, the changes will take place in a period of 18 months, where in the Legislative they will discuss the reform of laws in the Organic Code of the Judiciary, the Criminal Code, the Act Communication and Financial System.
While on the Judicial, they will establish the levels of compliance of the officers and judges to sanction them in case they use corruption or illicit enrichment mechanisms. In the transition period there will be designated judges favoring the “meritocracy” through public contests. In addition courts will be built in order to expand the services of justice in the country.
