Government Telethon raises more than $ 2 million

In order to raise funds for the initiative of the National Park Yasuní, Ecuadorian government organized a telethon held yesterday at the Casa de la Cultura in Quito.
The event, which attracted thousands of the citizens, ended at 5:15pm (GTM) and managed to raise $ 2’096 .614. The event was also a fair of food, clothing, crafts and it also had musical show.
The donations came from private companies such as the Prefecture of Pichincha ($ 116 thousand), ministries (Social Inclusion for $ 15.000) and local governments ($ 75.000 Guayas and Morona Santiago $ 130.000).
