Posted On 02 Apr 2019

Ecuadornews:

Guayaquil is nominated in seven categories at the award ceremony Latin American edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA), called Oscar of tourism, to be held on July 13, in La Paz (Bolivia).

The city could once again be designated as the Top Destination for Business Travel in South America, which it obtained between 2016 and 2018. Among the other categories to which the city is nominated are South America’s Leading Destination for Festivals and Events and the Leading Destination of South America City Break (city for short vacations).

The Municipal Public Company of Tourism of Guayaquil indicated that citizens can support with their vote by accessing the website www.votaporguayaquil.com until May 24.

“The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 in order to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry,” said the Municipal Tourism Company.

Last year, in the twenty-fifth edition of the World Travel Awards Latin American edition, in which Guayaquil was the seat, the Municipal Tourism Company was recognized for the first time as Tourism Authority of South America’s Leading City, a title that it later revalidated worldwide. In that regional appointment, he also received the award as the Leading Business Travel Destination of South America for the third consecutive year.

“In recognition of the performance and all the work that the institution has done in the promotion of the city as a destination for congresses, conventions, leisure and entertainment, which has made the city an international tourist destination with its attractions and facilities,”  said the Tourism Company led by Gloria Gallardo. (I)
