Guayas Court rescheduled Joffre Campaña hearing for Friday

This morning the President of the Provincial Court of Justice of Guayas, Francisco Morales, rescheduled for next Friday the hearing requested by the court prosecutor daily El Universo, Joffre Campaña.

In its request, Campaña asks the Provincial Prosecutor Antonio Gagliardo, not close the investigation against Judge Juan Paredes, who is accused of the alleged offenses of prevarication and misrepresentation.

The complaint comes after the first instance judgment given by Judge Paredes against El Universo Newspaper, three directors and the former editor of Opinion Emilio Palacio. This judgment required to pay $ 40 million to the president, Rafael Correa because of perjury, in addition to imprisonment for 3 years for managers and former editor.

Campaña  Paredes arguing that the sentence had already been previously written, precisely, by Judge Paredes.

However, Gagliardo dismissed the complaint saying that the request of the attorney is inadmissible. Campaña rejected Gagliardo´s argumentsdenounced and argued that the prosecutor is trying to discredit all the witnesses of crime “Chucky Seven“.
