Harsh weather in Argentina claimes 56 lives
Daniel Scioli, Governor of the province of Buenos Aires, announced that the severe rainstorm which affected Argentina during the past hours, so far has claimed the life of 56 people, 48 of which belong to the city of La Plata.
LastTuesday the phenomenon in the city of Buenos Aires affected some 350,000 people, of which six people died, also, entire neighborhoods were without electricity and with their homes flooded.
The water reached a high level and in some streets were flooded like rivers covering and moving cars, and dozens of people sought refuge on the roofs of their homes and trees in the city.
Rescuers were responsible for moving victims to safer places, and some adults carried children on the shoulders in search of a place to shelter.
Scioli said that the bodies were transferred to the morgue of the cemetery of La Plata, and admitted that “Unfortunately” there is a possibility that the number of fatalities will increase.
