Heriberto Glas Espinel, the brother of vice president Jorge Glas, denied yesterday his alleged participation in companies and millionaire investments abroad.
Heriberto Glas´clarification comes as a result of the accusations presidential hopeful Abdalá Dalo Bucaram Pulley did on TV.
According to Bucaram, Heriberto Glas would own several properties in the United States. He would also register “million dollar deposits through companies domiciled in Ecuador and the United States.”
Bucaram points out that these properties were in the name of a company called GLAS USA CORP, “and when the Panama Papers scandal arouse, they changed the name to Oriont.”
A statement says that in 2010 Heriberto Glas acquired a property in Miami, United States, for $ 52,000, through that company, which “was established for that purpose.”
In 2013, the property was transferred. “And now Heriberto Glas has no single property.” Until 2006, Glas paid taxes of up to $ 14,000; in 2016 he paid $ 90,000. (I)
