QUITO, Ecuador
Nearly 200 people, including soldiers and family members protested after the National Assembly Plenary did not approve the amendment to the Law on Recognition of Heroes and Heroines.
To control the protesters, a large barrage of tear gas was launched, which did not slow them down.
They shouted in anger, “tear gas is our food!” and almost make it to the National Plenary.
A strong police and military line held the protesters from entering the Legislative Palace. (MZ)
