Hodges will Leave Ecuador after Wikileaks Cable Scandal

Posted On 11 Apr 2011

Tomorrow the former U.S. Ambassador, Heather Hodges, in Ecuador will leave the country after being expelled from her position last week due to leakage of information on the Ecuadorian government provided by the organization Wikileaks.

Marta Youth, press spokesman of the Embassy in Quito, only said “She will leave tomorrow” and said it is “too early” to appoint a new ambassador.

The diplomatic impasse caused not only the removal of Hodges and her declaration as unwelcome person in Ecuador, but also the removal of the Ecuadorian Ambassador Luis Gallegos from the U.S.
