Identity of fourth body found in the jungle is investigated in 2 countries

Posted On 27 Jun 2018

Ecuadornews:

For today, June 27, the return of the mortal remains of the employees of El Comercio is scheduled. In their honor there will be a wake on Thursday; On Friday a mass will be celebrated.

A young woman, whose identity is under protection, is convinced that her father’s remains were found next to those of the El Comercio journalists. She went on the morning of this Tuesday, June 26, to the San Lorenzo Police, in Esmeraldas, to ask for help from the soldiers and immediately began the investigation to find out if there are any definite indications that he is her father.

The uniformed and representatives of the Office of the Prosecutor took samples required to prove it with the body that remains in Legal Medicine of Cali (Colombia). During the operation to rescue the bodies of communicators Javier Ortega, Paul Rivas and Efraín Segarra surprised the news of the finding of a fourth victim buried with them.

His identity is still unknown, but the press of the neighbor from the north affirms that he is one of the men of alias “Guacho”, who apparently tried to help the hostages. They came to that conclusion by filtering the testimony of an informant that was important to locate the place where the communicators were buried.

He also warned of the mines that were placed around the pit. However, no version has yet been confirmed. Police also went to the home of the relatives of Óscar Villacís and Katty Velasco, who were kidnapped by the Oliver Sinisterra Front last April.

The intention was to collect samples to compare them with the fourth victim. Ana Velasco, the girl’s relative, expects some news from the authorities about the results of these exams. He also said that next week a delegation of relatives of the couple is scheduled to travel to Colombia to meet with the authorities of that country and continue with the search for their loved ones.

Óscar Villacís and Katty Velasco were kidnapped on April 12. Five days later the men of “Guacho” sent a video to the Ecuadorian authorities where they announced the plagiarism. Since then, according to the Police, the kidnappers did not contact them again.

This case is also under investigation in the Ecuadorian Prosecutor’s Office. Both files are in the stage of reserved inquiry. This June 27, at 09:30, is scheduled to land in Quito the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) plane that brings the remains of Javier Ortega, Paul Rivas and Efraín Segarra.

His friends and family were organized to receive them in the air terminal, where they will accompany him to a funeral home in which he plans to continue with the legalization of his death.

In the afternoon there will be a burning chapel in the facilities of the Quito newspaper, but only relatives and close friends can enter this ceremony. On Thursday, June 28, the funeral will be held in a Catholic church in the capital.

Until the closing of this edition it was not known which temple would be chosen. The act will be public. Ricardo Rivas, Paul’s brother, said his intention is that all citizens who so wish share the farewell. On Friday, June 29, it will be their funeral in Quito.
