Severino Sharupi, Territories leader of CONAIE, positively assessed the public response to the marches called by the national union.

Sharupi recalled that historically, the streets have belonged to the peoples who resist, who claim that they are not in accordance with the political and economic power that dominates the country.

The prefect of Zamora, Salvador Quishpe, insisted that the merit of the indigenous, peasants, workers and organizations mobilization, held in recent weeks, is that people lose fear and publicly manifest.

He reiterates that the response to the call shows that the organization is still in force and has not disappeared. “They said that the Conaie was made up by Antonio Vargas, Miguel Lluco and someone else. We have not seen so far a large assembly led by them,” he said.
