Interagua Termination Contract rendered without effect

Termination of contract lapsed Interagua

Through a press release, Interagua announced that the concessionaire will with the contract for water services and sewerage in Guayaquil.

The Municipal Water and Sewage Company (Emapag) terminated the process of unilateral termination of the concession contract and the corresponding intervention.

Emapag´s decision was because Interagua fulfilled the required guarantees, including the payment of $ 18’738 718 owed for late fees; the delivery of $ 5’375.000 for the first quarter of investments, and the withdrawal of the arbitration process for a rate increase.

Interagua’s claim went to foreign arbitration (because it is allowed by contract). In this case, the International Chamber of Commerce, has not yet pronounced on the matter.
