Posted On 09 Sep 2014

carrasco-y-jairalaPrefects Jimmy Jairala, from Guayas, and Paul Carrasco, from Azuay, meet today in the prefecture of Guayas in Guayaquil, to discuss the border dispute between the two provinces.

“It’s a meeting that will undoubtedly serve to chart a course, and see if we get to the mediation”, Jairala said.

Of the 1,493 square kilometers that Guayas dispute, 607.82 borders Azuay. The sectors in conflict are Suya – Putucay and Abdón Calderón.

Jairala also called for a meeting of the Provincial Council on Friday to address the limits and seek possibilities for an agreement.
