Javier Cornejo: A Whole Life Dedicated to Social Assistance

Javier Cornejo
32 years later, is more than a fact, Javier Cornejo was born to help others selflessly and completely in love with what he does.
His whole story began in 1981, when businessman Alvaro Noboa started searching for people who can successfully manage his, at the time, new Foundation called “Crusade for a New Humanity”. Once Javier knew about the call, he decided to try some luck and it was obvious that this call aroused his interest until today.
“I remember going along with my mother to the interview at Noboa’s home. It was November and I only was 19 years old. I was interviewed a few minutes later I was already in the foundation.”
In January ‘82, Javier along with Mariano Santos and led by businessman Alvaro Noboa began their tireless work on this foundation.
In his journey as a social guide, Javier has lived sweet and tragic moments. He has worked with medical teams at Crusade Foundation, with whom he has traveled for all Ecuadorian regions, aiding relief to victims of border disputes and other natural disasters.

“(…) In a earthquakes or landslides in any part of Ecuador, Crusade Foundation was there to help. We have travel with doctors, medicines, provisions, bedding, food. The foundation in action, always at the right time.”
However, many of these experiences also bring with them not so pleasant moments. In 1998 Javier lived for 3 months in Lago Agrio, eastern Ecuador, where he provided medical care and medicine delivered, taking about a thousand patients a day.
In this area, he constantly suffered by armed border problems attacks, Javier received a stray bullet but fortunately recieved help of the brigades that were able to control the situation with great success.
“(…) I think I have an Angel. Despite everything, I always come out ahead.”

Like these stories, there are many more. However, this never discouraged Javier to withdraw its community task.
Years later, Javier promoted teaching and training courses as part of the aid of Crusade Foundation. He began to hold workshops for entrepreneurs, community Quaker breakfast for children, computer workshops in urban areas in Guayaquil, where for several times he was exposed to the uncertainties of the city. Again, his work was a success. “It’s a privilege to work on a crusade to help with love, unity and success in teaching it to others to help themselves and to help the most needed. Thanks to the Foundation Crusade I have learned tohelp at a national level (…) “.
Wherever he goes, Javier ends up being admired and loved by those who receive his help.
