Jorge Glas Espinel with demand for alimony

A demand for alimony rests since last October 3 against former Vice President Jorge Glas Espinel in the North 1 Family, Women, Children and Adolescents Judicial Unit based in Guayaquil canton.

The plaintiff is the wife of the former president, Cinthia Penelope Diaz Aveiga, mother of the two sons of the former vice president.

The process is based in the North 1 Judicial Unit of Family, Women, Children and Adolescents, located in the judicial complex of Florida, north of Guayaquil. After the draw, the judge who will have to watch the lawsuit is the lawyer Juan Carlos Paz Mena, as judge; and the secretary is Marye Sther Arévalo Salgado.

In his capacity as former vice president, Jorge Glas Espinel receives a pension for former presidents, which is $ 4,057.5 per month, according to the Ministry of Labor. For the first week of January 2018 – when his definitive absence was notified – he received $ 721.33 for the same concept.

When asked about the amounts, the lawyer Eduardo Franco Loor, Glas defender said: “The exact figure I do not know …, (but) the wife just told me that she normally receives that pension.” That statement was published on October 2 in this same media.

Consulted at noon of this Tuesday on this demand of foods, Franco Loor said not to know of the subject.

Glas is in prison 4 of Quito since October 2018, received on December 13 a sentence of six years of ordinary minor imprisonment for the crime of illicit association related to acts of corruption committed by the construction company Odebrecht in Ecuador. (I)
