Journalists of EL COMERCIO, allegedly kidnapped

The Government of Ecuador ratified this morning that yesterday, Monday, March 26, 2018, in the Mataje parish, Esmeraldas province, two journalists and a driver of this newspaper were allegedly kidnapped, who were doing journalistic work in the sector.

The Government reported that it has activated all security and investigation protocols in order to protect the integrity of citizens. Last night, the Ministers of Defense, the Interior Ministry and the Attorney General of the State met with relatives and representatives of the media to adopt the pertinent actions.

The government asked the media to go to official sources to obtain the information. In this case, the spokesperson will be exclusively the Minister of the Interior, César Navas Vera. In the next few hours a press conference will be convened to provide more information. (I)
