Manabí offers several tourist and religious activities on the holiday

Gastronomic fairs, viacrucis and dances are some of the events that are scheduled in several manabitas cantons for the Easter holiday (from March 30 to April 1).
In Jipijapa everything is ready for the procession of Good Friday (which has been going on for 50 years). Everything begins in the San Lorenzo church, in the center of the city, and advances to the chapel in the Sancán district.
The priest Paco de la Cruz indicated that this viacrucis adds the largest participation of parishioners in Manabí. Its route is 10 kilometers. It starts at 07:00. “They travel 14 stations and we hope to receive more than 10,000 devotees.”
The event, which ends at 2:00 pm, has the blessing of Archbishop Lorenzo Voltolini. In Portoviejo there will be viacrucis on Good Friday.
On Saturday, March 31, the local Cabildo organizes an artistic show on the Crucita boardwalk. It will begin at 20:00 with the presence of local artists, the Colombian Andy Cruz, the Medardo orchestra and its Players and on April 1 is the seafood gastronomic festival. “It is a family proposal to enjoy,” said the official Isidro Rodríguez.
In Pedernales the holiday coincides with the date of cantonization. Indira Puertas, director of municipal tourism, announced that for Good Friday the Municipality will support the living procession; Saturday is the solemn session for the 26 years as a canton and then the opening of the Pedernal shopping center.
In the evening it is the popular dance in Ambato street. The Saturday of Glory will be the traditional Coco Festival, which reaches its fifteenth edition. On Sunday, in the first stage of the boardwalk, there will be a gastronomic exhibition.
Analía Navarrete, director of Tourism of the GAD of Manta, informed that the Viacrucis will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the circle of Los Eléctricos and will end at the Scenic Seawall.
That Friday the comedian José Ordóñez will be presented at the civic plaza. On Saturday the Mister Manta contest will take place and in San Mateo there will be a private party with economic cost. (I)
