Ariel Castro, who was sentenced to life imprisonment on august 1,  for keeping in captivity for more than ten years and rape repeatedly three women in Cleveland, was found lifeless in his prison cell. He apparently committed suicide in the State Penitentiary, reported  the authorities yesterday.

The spokeswoman JoEllen Smith reported that Castro, 53 years old, was found hanged in his prison cell yesterday when it was approximately 21:20 at the East correctional reception center, therefore immediately the prison medical staff was notified of the incident and they practiced CPR on him, until Castro was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared that he was dead.

The judgment of Castro was issued by  judge Michael Russo, who found him guilty for the crimes of aggravated homicide – since it ended the pregnancy of one of their captives-as well as by 937 more accusations  that included kidnapping and rape.

Castro said in a statement before the Court that he was addicted to sex, and that he was sick. “I’m not a monster. I am a normal person. I’m just sick. I have an addiction as an alcoholic has an addiction” said Castro  on that occasion.
