Earthquake shook Eastern Japan
A quake of 6.5 magnitude rocked today in the morning the East of Japan, along the Pacific coast, as was announced by the American Geophysical Institute (USGS), who also said that there is no risk of a tsunami, such as the Japanese Meteorological Agency said.
The USGS said the quake occurred at 404 km deep in the Pacific Ocean, and 607 km south of Tokyo, where the tremor was felt with more intensity, but so far the authorities have not announced any damage.
The operator of the nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), said there were no problems in the central affected by this earthquake.
Japan still recalls the terrible earthquake of magnitude 9 that occurred in March 2011 at the height of the eastern coast of the country, and caused a huge tsunami which killed around 18 000 people and which in turn caused a nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, the most serious since Chernobyl (Ukraine) in 1986.
