In this month elections, Kuwait will replace Syria as a candidate for a place in the United Nations Council. However, Syria will run in 2013. The ambassadors of Syria and Kuwait announced the deal after a meeting with the 53-member Asian Group.
Syria’s U.N. Ambassador Bashar Ja’afari informed the press the government’s decision to delay their candidature on the Human Rights Council had nothing to do with the current unrest in the country.
