Peruvian President Would Visit Ecuador
Posted On 11 May 2011
Alan Garcia, the president of Peru would travel to Quito on May 20 to meet with Rafael Correa. According to the newspaper El Peruano, Garcia was invited by the Ecuadorian leader to discuss the bilateral maritime boundary treaty.
The meeting of both leaders will be for a thorough investigation of the bilateral relation. Last Tuesday, the Peruvian government acknowledged the Ecuadorian “Nautical chart” thus confirming any doubts concerning the maritime boundary only concerning fisheries matter that are in no way treated as boundaries.
The Ecuadorian government was concerned that Peru made demand similar to the one made by Chile regarding a maritime zone based on documents of the three countries in 1952 and 1954.
