‘La India’ was taken to the hospital after being attacked

Salsa singer known as ‘La India’, was transferred yesterday morning to Pavia Hospital in San Juan (Puerto Rico), after being found unconscious inside a residence in Santurce.

In its preliminary report, the police said that the singer, 44, whose real name is Linda Viera Caballero, had a broken nose and a large bruise on the forehead area.

Police arrested the singer’s boyfriend, Javier Padilla Gonzalez, 32, as a suspect for questioning. The police is still investigating whether the attack against the singer is related to a call  received by the Emergency Services, about an incident involving four people.

The singer of “Nunca voy a olvidarte” and who achieved fame after singing and recording “Vivir lo nuestro”, a duet with Marc Anthony, was moved this afternoon to the prosecution to testify.
