Lara’s Defense works to dilate his extradition process
With the purpose of delaying the extradition of former Assemblyman Galo Lara, his Panamanian and local defense prepares a legal offense.
Nelson Jose Brandao, member of Lara’s defense assured that his client will remain more than 45 days in detention, because the defense will raise all the resources allowed by the Panama laws.
In recent days, the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Panama began the extradition process requested by the Foreign Ministry, which would take about 45 days, after approving the legality of Lara´s detention.
However, Brandao said it would take more because they provide to pose judicial remedies for the verification of the documents submitted by the Ecuadorian authorities.
“They had everything ready to take me to Quito”, and in order to do this, “Ecuadorian authorities came to Panama with agents”. “They wanted me as a war booty”, Lara said through messages sent to another of his defenders, Pedro Granja.
