Last stage of the indigenous march
Last week began the manifestation of indigenous groups and movements from Zamora until Quito for the national strike this August 13th.
Yesterday they arrived at Latacunga, members of social movements and communities of the sector received them and together marched through downtown to the Plaza de El Salto, where they had planned their act. But the site had been occupied in advance by supporters of Alianza PAIS (AP), so that the march changed its destination.
Jorge Herrera, president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), said that this mobilization also comes from Bolivar and the north of the country and _ heads to the capital, the same that, as he explains, is not only comprised by the indigenous sector and seeks the president to change his policy and observe the requests of the various sectors. Among others, the file to the amendments, the repeal of the Water Act, the free access to the public university and the recovery of the rectory of intercultural bilingual education.
Assemblywoman Lourdes Tibán (PK) made a public recognition to Rosita Lanchimba, a marcher who has accompanied the march from Tundayme with her guitar.
