Luis, the Taurus of shoes
He is from Riobamba and arrived to Guayaquil when he was still a teenager, looking for a better future. His brother in law was a shoemaker and he decided to follow in his footsteps and made his own shoe shop, which has been 50 years in operation.
But Luis wanted his shoe business to grow, so in 2005, thanks to a recommendation from his church group “Friends of the Lord,” he learned about the interest-free loans that Alvaro Noboa and Crusade For a New Humanity Foundation (FCNH for its acronym in Spanish) grant to help the ones in most need. He decided to make a $ 1,000 loan to buy materials to work on his shoeshop with his wife and to increase its production of shoes.
Luis works on demand and by measures he commonly uses dallas (wet leather) and leather to make his own creations, which carry the name of his brand “Tauro” (Taurus) for his zodiac sign.
