Madonna Sued in Russia

Madonna showed support toRussian punk band, Pussy Riot
First, she showed solidarity and supported the Russian punk band, Pussy Riot, which were sentenced to two years in prison for complaining of President Putin at the altar of a church. Once again, Madonna became controversial in Russia, but this time it could lead to serious problems with the law of this country.
Almost simultaneously, the “Material Girl” angered the Russian Orthodox Church and activists against the gay community after a concert St. Petersburg last August 9, where Madonna asked her fans to raise hands in support of gays and lesbians in Russia.
However, in that city is illegal to comment or support the gay community in the presence of minors. Activists argued that there were children less than 12 years old in the show.
Nine activists filed a demand against the singer, the organizers and the place where the event was held, and require payment of 33 million rubles (approx. $ 10.5 million).
The presentation includes a video in which Madonna is reportedly stepping on a cross of the Orthodox Church and then encourages the audience to raise their hands in favor of gay rights.
