Mayor of Guayaquil spoke about the foundation festivities and political issues
Jaime Nebot, mayor of Mayor of Guayaquil, in an interview with Ecuavisa said that the best way to celebrate the city in its foundation festivities is through works, and he is committed to continue working and carrying out projects that contribute to the development of the city.
“Today things are celebrated with works and service to the city, it is substantiated every day with more works. And within 5 years, the independence should be celebrate maintaining this independence, maintaining that freedom,” he said.
On political affairs, Nebot said that the government has failed to listen the message of citizenship, after the massive march he convened a month ago to reject its policies.
Therefore, he warns that if this position of the regime persists, citizens will have to insist with the protests and the struggle for their rights on the streets, but always framed in the respect for the law, he clarifies.
Moreover, he expressed his rejection of several legal measures of the present government, but he stressed the one adopted yesterday for the regulation of videos in debates.
“Ethically they should not make any resolution for that because that does not fit. But if they implement it, the majority would have remain silent, because that´s what they do every day,” he said.
