Members of the CNE will not Participate in Forged Signatures Case

General attorney, Galo Chiriboga (left), and Fabian Salazar, Attorney of Pichincha, informed that CNE officials should only give their version on the signature verification issue.
The members of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) will not participate in the Prosecutors’ Office investigation on the case of forged signatures, in which only the leaders of political parties and movements with irregularities in their signatures, will have to respond.
The general attorney, Galo Chiriboga said that neither the members nor any other official of the CNE will enter the prosecutor’s inquiry, but they will be called to give their version.
According to Chiriboga, there are a total of 260 people allegedly involved in the selling of databases.
The prosecutors’ office states that the first person to give versions will be assemblywoman Lourdes Tiban. It is unclear if President Rafael Correa will be called to give his testimony. (MZ)
