Changes in the ministerial cabinet which President Rafael Correa will make remained pending for after carnival. The decision of changes was taken by Correa after the political “setback” Alianza País suffered in sectional elections last Sunday.

Correa took the decision yesterday during an expanded meeting in which he summoned ministers and national leaders of AP. At the meeting, several ministers said that they already left their positions at the disposal of President Correa.

Unofficial news came up yesterday  indicating that Correa would consider the dismiss or relocation of Ministers of Education, Augusto Espinosa; Defense, Maria Fernanda Espinosa; Employment Relations, Francisco Vacas; Policy Management, Betty Tola, and Ricardo Patiño, Chancellor.

As part of the restructuring, it would be given space to the militancy of the Avanza and Socialista parties that announced their desire to ally with the government. They even offered them the support of their mayors and prefects.
