Ministry of Justice Will Sponsor Migrants
Last Thursday the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Culture, of the National Secretary of Migrants from Cuenca (Senami) confirmed their support and legal assessment to the victims of the illegal traffic of Ecuadorian immigrants and their families.
This new entity is called Office of Citizen Attention (OAC), Jose Serrano, Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Culture, along with Governor of Azuay, Leonardo Berrezueta were supposed to attend the inauguration, but they were absent because of a meeting organized by the Ministry of Government.
The Vice ministry of Justice, Daniela Idrovo explained that the entity would handle the legal assessment of all the victims of illegal immigrant traffic as a support program for citizenship, prevention and socialization against possible dangers while entering a country illegally.
At the moment the OAC would count with the assistance of five lawyers of the Ministry of Justice and it will work out treaties of cooperation between the governments of Azuay, Cañar and the Universidad de Cuenca. Idrovo stated that during the next weeks another office would be available in the province of Cañar. “We want to protect the people and the community, so that they can denounce any abuse, lastly we want to identify the corrupt organizations that take advantage of the people.”
The Public Ministry would began their work with the district to amplify the program for protection of victims and witnesses that involve politics of Human Rights motivated by the Ministry of Justice.
