In some US areas, temperatures in the morning the temperatures were of 37°C below 0 because of the cold wave. Specialists think this is going to last all week long.
East North and Middle West are the parts of the country which are the most affected by the cold, with low temperatures and important snowfalls according to Weatherchannel.com.
Snowfall records were registered in the Great Lakes area because of the Arctic wind.
In Minnesota the temperatures are very low, minus 37°C in Crane Lake and minus 34°C in Babbitt.
Most of the East coast is affected by the cold, the Weather National Service announced alerts up to the north of Florida.
Washington woke up yesterday with minus 9°C. In New York and Philadelphia average temperatures are around 6°C under 0.
Chicago, Buffalo, Boston, and Pittsburg average temperature is minus 12°C.
Snowfalls are unusual too, 40 centimeters in Erie (Pennsylvania) and between 45 and 60cm in some New York areas.
Specialists said that the temperatures began to drop last Saturday because of an Arctic air wave coming from Canada. (JBM)
