Monge faces 18 lawsuits on behalf of Jairala
After denouncing a number of alleged irregularities in the administration of Jimmy Jairala, then-candidate to the Prefecture and CREO member, Cesar Monge, faces about 18 lawsuits over libel and a compensation that for Monge, has reason to be, $ 250 million.
Both Jairala and his attorney in the case, Gutemberg Vera, refused to give interviews, so Vera presented a statement in which he said that “Jimmy Jairala Vallazza has been a victim of slander, atrocious insults, lies, falsehoods, rants on behalf of the accused.”
Meanwhile, Monge reiterated his accusations from before, which triggered the Prosecution to launch inquiries. According to him, these court cases have only one explanation, that those who report corruption are ultimately pursued by the denounced.
In addition to a financial compensation, Jairala also calls for the maximum prison sentence against Monge. Because the crime of libel does not sum up penalties, jail time would not exceed two years. Monge says he is willing to accept this consequence.
