Moreno analyzes his options after the breakup of Alianza País
Ecuadornews:
Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno analyzes his options after the break occurred on Tuesday in the government party Alianza Pais (AP), when a sector dismissed him as president of the political organization, a measure left without effect by a court a day later.
On Tuesday, the evident differences in AP exploded, as several members remained silent since Moreno began dialogues in May with all sectors -the opposition included- and the situation exacerbated when he criticized the difficult economic situation he stated he had inherited from the previous administration of Rafael Rafael, his party peer.
On that day, an AP fraction, including former Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño and the former President of the National Assembly Gabriela Rivadeneira, close to Correa, took advantage of a technicality: the absence of Moreno for three months to the sessions of the board of directors, to announce his dismissal.
Among the political reasons they claimed to depose Moreno, was the alleged lack of consistency with his government plan and the political project. (I)
