Morning-after pill approved by the World Health Organization

Morning After Pill
Yesterday morning, the World Health Organization (WHO) ruled in favor of the use of the morning-after pill and claimed that this contraception drug is not an abortifacient and has no impact on women’s health.
Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) representative, Mario Valcarcel, said the pill is preventive rather than abortive, also has no harmful effects on women’s health by consuming it.
Meanwhile, Lucia Salamea, from UN Women stressed that the government’s action responds to international agreements which guarantee sexual and reproductive health of the people and said that this will help rape victims to not get pregnant.
Given this resolution, several pro-life groups will march on Saturday in the Pope’s Cross, starting at 10:00, in the city of Quito to reject distribution. They assure that the pill is micro abortive and causes damage to the health of those who use it.
