On Wednesday the mayor Jaime Nebot announced that as agreed with the National Transit Agency (ANT for its Spanish acronym), from next July 1, the Municipality of Guayaquil shall be responsible for reviewing and registering vehicles.
However, the mayor revealed that a resolution by the ANT is missing in order for the agreement to become an administrative rule. “If there is no resolution, we can not take on that date. Out there someone demands that we should assume things and we tell them that we will assume, but correctly, to improve service,” added the mayor.
Nebot reiterated that the Municipal Transit Company, which is responsible for providing the services in question, will not increase the value of registration or create new requirements to pass the vehicle revision.
