National Assembly refines processes to recover $ 15 million
The Commission of Justice and the State structure of the National Assembly, has the list of the 52 deputies that dismissed the judges of the Supreme Court on December 8, 2004.
On September 24 this Commission will identify these former parliamentary authorities, in order to apply the principle of repetition in order for them to economically assume the compensation the State paid to the former judges, dismissed during the government of Lucio Gutierrez by disposal of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
In November 2013, after a nine-year dispute, the State was ordered to pay millions in compensation for the dismissal of the 27 former constitutional judges and nine former members, considering that there was violation of rights. This sum, which was around $ 15 million has been partially canceled, and in March 2016 and it shall be completely paid.
Even though the Public Prosecution was the one that took the defense in this case, in July 14, 2015 Attorney General Diego Garcia asked the Legislature to determine the identity of the alleged perpetrators of these violations.
