NATO, Syrian government ‘approaching collapse’
Posted On 13 Dec 2012
Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO Secretary-General says that Syria’s government is “approaching collapse” and urges Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to stop fighting and accommodate a political transfer of power.
Such comments came as a debate occurred due to the use of Scud missiles in Syria, since a U.S. military official said that their satellites picked up and confirmed the infrared signature of four short-range Scud missiles that were fired from Damascus several days ago.
The missiles did not fell in Turkey, but “came close,” said Anders. However this Thursday the Syrian foreign ministry official of Syria denied the reports about the Syrian military use of Scud missiles against rebel groups in Syria.
