Nebot will not be present in formal ceremony of October 9

The mayor of Guayaquil, Jaime Nebot, will not be present in the delivery of floral offerings in the Column of the October 9 Heroes, together with the Ministry of Defense, in the event that takes place each year from 08:00 until 08:30, said the council.

Vicente Taiano B., city clerk, said that this decision follows a statement sent to the City Council by Carlos Jacome, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Defence, the City Hall is relegated to meet the act at 09:30, according to the “order of precedence”.

Taiano said that for this reason the City Council decided not to partake of the invitation made by the Ministry of Defense, and instead scheduled a local homage to Guayaquil, when the Guayaquil´s Burgomaster decides.

Later, the council reported that the floral offering will be delivered at 12:00, an act that will be chaired by Mayor Nebot and the Deputy Mayor Domenica Tabacchi.
