The former astronaut Neil Armstrong, 82, the first man to set foot on the Moon, passed away today. Armstrong was submitted to a bypass surgery in the heart early this month. Neil Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
As commander of the mission Apollo 11, Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the surface of the Moon on July 20, 1969. While walking through the Moon, Armstrong made his famous quote “That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.”
Armstrong passed away today August 25, 2012 due to complications after his heart surgery. AV
