Between 15 and 20 families, residents of the San Marcos sector, in the Tundayme parish, of the Pangui county, in Zamora Chinchipe, were apparently evicted yesterday from their homes by authorities, police personnel and guards of the Ecuacorriente mining company.

The incident occurred, according to the complainants, from early hours this morning and this would be giving way to works of the Chinese mining company, which is in charge of the Mirador project, located in this Zamora parish.

According to a video that circulated on social networks yesterday, several policemen prevented the passage of vehicles and people to the Tundayme road. An officer who was in charge of that group of policemen argued they were performing an operation and they had received the order from a superior command of the police of not allowing anyone to pass.

The eviction operation started at about 02:00 yesterday and until press time, the action continued. The last time something similar happened was on September 30.
