New requirements to enter Galapagos will not be applied yet

Regulations that strengthen the control of domestic and foreign tourists to the Galapagos Islands require a greater socialization. Therefore, the measures announced the previous week will not yet be applied and, in the meantime, the delivery of requirements will be voluntary and not mandatory.

According to the Galapagos Governing Council, this measure is taken at the request of several actors involved in the implementation of the Migration and Residence Regulations for the islands. Its purpose is for “the resolution to be socialized effectively, applied correctly and there are no mistakes” that may cause inconvenience to travelers and residents.

The regulations stipulate, among other things, that travelers arriving to the islands must have the round trip ticket and a reservation in a hotel or a navigable tour, according to the dates of their air tickets, or a letter of invitation to remain as a guest of a permanent or temporary resident in the province of Galapagos, for a maximum period of up to 60 days.
