The president-elect, Daniel Noboa , asked his transition team to work to reduce the planned budget for the change of command, which is expected to take place on November 23, 2023.

“I have arranged for the transition team to seek efficiency and responsibility. That we work with the outgoing government and spend less than 50% of the amount budgeted for the change of command,” Noboa published this Monday, November 13, in his X account.
Budget for change of command
The Ecuadorian Government plans to spend up to USD 600,000 for all events of the change of command , which includes the reception at the airport, the farewell dinner for President Guillermo Lasso, the transfer of command at the Assembly and the welcome lunch to the new president.
The Foreign Ministry provides USD 9,000 for the delivery of gifts to international guests . Depending on the hiring process, the list includes:
- Toquilla straw hats with box
- Alpaca scarves
- National shawls.
- 925 silver cufflinks, 14k gold plated.
- Inlaid wood dumbbells.
- Silver figures (hummingbirds, boobies, turtles, roosters) with a wooden base.
Daniel Noboa’s inauguration is scheduled for November 23, as anticipated by elected assemblywoman Pierina Correa, who will preside over the inaugural session of the National Assembly.
